High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, said that Brussels continues to demand the release of all Ukrainian prisoners from the Russian Federation. The Head of European Diplomacy stated this in Brussels during a plenary session, the EU's Foreign Affairs and Security Policy reports.
"We continue to call on Russia to release all illegally detained Ukrainians, and to ensure free passage through the Kerch Strait in accordance with international law," Mogherini said.
She once again recalled the positive assessment of the recent exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia, which took place on 7 September, by the European community.
According to Mogherini, Brussels is ready to encourage any steps that may resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
As we reported earlier, on September 7, the first stage of the prisoners' exchange took place in the "35 to 35" format. 24 sailors, journalist Roman Sushchenko, director Oleg Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Pavlo Gryb, Stanislav Klich, Mykola Karpiuk, Volodymyr Balukh, Yevgen Panov, Artur Panov, Edem Bekirov and Mykola Sizanovich returned to Ukraine.
