The Ukrainian government shows an incorrect approach to solving the Donbas conflict, when defining certain areas of Donbas as ‘the temporarily occupied territories’. Hugh Mingarelli, the head of the EU delegation in Ukraine, said this in his interview with RBC Ukraine.

‘These areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are not under control of the Ukrainian government right now. But they should not be treated as the occupied ones and the ones that Russia should be holding responsibility for,’ Mingarelli said, added that the EU has been considering these territories part of Ukraine. ‘Everything should be done for the Ukrainian government to re-gain control over these areas,’ he concluded.

According to him, full compliance with Minsk agreements is the only way to solve the ongoing hostilities in Donbas.

If he and EU consider these areas as part of Ukraine, EU should send armed peace -getters and -keepers to make it and keep it as part of Ukraine (again)
