The situation in the combat area in eastern Ukraine got tenser as Russia-backed militants apparently intensified attacks on positions of the government troops.
In the Donetsk sector, thick fire was reported near Pisky, not far from the ruined Donetsk airport; the enemy used 120 mm mortars, armored vehicles armament, anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machineguns to open fire in this area. 120 mm mortar mines hit outposts in Opytne and Luhanske.
82 mm mortar attacks took place in Avdiivka, Kamyanka and Butivka coal mine. Troitske and Zatisevo went under fire from infantry fighting vehicles, RPGs and heavy machineguns. Militants used anti-aircraft guns to shoot at Novhorodske. Hostile IFVs opened fire on Verkhnyotoretske. Enemy snipers fired near Avdiivka and Novhorodske.
Pro-Kremlin mercenaries used 120 mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers to hit Novotroitske; positions near Maryinka, Vodyane and Hnutove went under 82 mm mortar attacks. The enemy also fired on Krasnohorivka, Shyrokyne, and Pavlopol, using sniper squads, RPGs, heavy machineguns and IFV guns.
In Luhansk region, the militants used 122 mm artillery, AA guns, IFV guns and anti-tank grenade launchers to shell Novooleksandrivka. 82 mm mines hit Zhovte; in Krymske and Popasna, the enemy opened fire from RPGs. Machineguns and IFV guns were used during attacks on Novozvanivka.
