Escalation in Donbas due to beginning of Joint Force Operation is not predicted

The significant efforts will aim to strengthen the positions of Ukraine's Armed Forces

The escalation in the zone of armed Donbas Conflict due to the beginning of the Joint Force Operation (JFO) is not predicted. Serhiy Nayev, the Joint Force Commander claimed this during the briefing at Donetsk Regional Civil-Military Administration as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

'I want to emphasize that we do not predict the escalation of the fighting due to the beginning of the operation. The JFO aims for the peacemaking, liquidation of any division lines and artificial boundaries that separates the citizens of Ukraine and families. We have come not to encourage the conflict but to speed up its settlement', he said.

Also, Nayev noted that the significant efforts will aim to strengthen the positions of Ukraine's Armed Forces at the contact line.

As we reported, on April 30, the Anti-Terrorist Operation is officially replaced by the Joint Force Operation (JFO) in Donbas.

The change of the format is defined in the law 'On Donbas reintegration'.

On April 13, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine claimed that the Anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine is to be renamed in the Joint Forces Operation since April 30, 2018. 

As it was reported earlier, Poroshenko appointed Serhiy Nayev the Joint Force Commander.
