Ukrainian government linked up Avdiivka and Krasnogorivka to its own electric power system. Earlier these cities received the electricity from occupied Donetsk. At the moment a few villages near occupied Gorlivka use the electricity from the pro-Russian militants’ side. It is planned to re-terminate the villages until the Independence Day on August 24. The Head of the Donetsk Military Civil Administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky reported this to Ukrinform.
‘The balance of the electricity flowing from that and from our side in the beginning of the year was approximately minus 1.17 million of dollars per month for Ukraine. The so-called Donetsk People’s Republic supplied us with the electricity from Zuivka via Makiivka and we supplied them. Krasnogorivka, Avdiivka, Bachmutka, Zhovanka, Zaitseve were linked up to the militants’ side. We re-terminated Krasnogorivka last year and this year we finish the re-termination of Avdiivka this April’, Zhebrivsky said.
According to him, Zhovanka that is near occupied Gorlivka was without the light for more than a year after the fire attacks.
‘At the moment we hold the re-termination there. And we will definitely link up Zhovanka, Bachmutka, Zaitseve and Pisky to the Ukrainian electric power system until the Independence Day but we will also try to do it earlier’, he reported.
Also, he noted that the decision to disconnect the territory of Donetsk People’s Republic from the Ukrainian energy power system was made after the nationalization of the Ukrainian enterprises and default on debts for the electricity supply by the occupants.
‘They somehow solved the balance issue while the DTEK was common both at the occupied and at the Ukrainian territory. But the flowing became to be loss-making after the nationalization of the part that was owned by the regional power distribution company. So, we made the decision to cut the energy supply due to the fact that nobody is going to pay. People who live in the territory that is under control of Ukraine will not suffer. The terrorists should find the ways to pay the debts that Ukraine received from the balance of the electricity flowing’, Zhebrivsky claimed.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stopped the supply of energy to the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk due to the debts on payments. Russia claimed about the intentions to supply energy to Luhansk region and called it the humanitarian aid.
