Donbas war has claimed 14,000 lives and forced the relocation of 1,5 million people. This was pronounced in a statement of the Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of UN General Assembly Resolution No. 3314 (XXIX) "Determination of Aggression", which was published on the ministry’s website on Monday.
"Armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine inexorably increases the number of victims, which, according to international organizations, has reached more than 40 thousand people, more than 14 thousand of which have died, 1,5 million people have become internally displaced," the statement informed.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that large-scale, systemic nature of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk is the result of the international armed conflict started by the Russian Federation against Ukraine on February 20, 2014.
As we reported earlier, militants violated the ceasefire regime in the area of the Joint Forces Operation eight times on December 14. The press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) informed about it on Facebook.
"The Russian Federation, despite the assurances of the world community in the negotiations of the Norman Four leaders in a permanent ceasefire, continues systematic shelling of the positions of the Joint Forces... As a result of these insidious actions, one of the military personnel of the Joint Forces was killed, two more of our defenders were injured," the message states.
