Donbas war: Body of missing Ukrainian sniper found

On May 29, OSCE SMM and Ukrainian volunteers found the body of the Ukrainian sniper who went missing on May 27 in a battle with Russian militants, as Joint Forces Operation HQ reported on Facebook.

“Today, at around 3 p.m. as a result of joint efforts of OSCE Monitoring Mission and “Evacuation 200” group, the body of serviceman B. Stepanchenko from a Detached Brigade was found,” the message reads.

According to the headquarter, on May 27, the soldier was carrying out a military task near Popasna settlement, as a member of sniper group. He was checking minefields when he got ambushed by the militants.

“The body of the dead soldier B. Sepanchenko is on the temporarily occupied territory. The body repatriation is scheduled for May 31 at Shchastya checkpoint,” the message reads.

On May 29, militants violated ceasefire eight times.

Illegal armed formations fired at Ukrainian positions with 122mm artillery systems, 82mm mortars, anti-tank missile systems, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns, and small arms.
