“Recently, the militants increasingly hold distant mining of the territory with the use of POM-2 mines banned the UN Convention. Meanwhile, mostly, the mercenaries use the unmanned aerial vehicles and re-equipped RPG-7 grenade launchers to deliver the mines – posing threat not only to the military men of the Armed Forces of Ukraine but also to the locals,” the message said.
Since the beginning of 2021, the Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Center spotted eight cases of the use of POM-2 by the Russian mercenaries.
“On April 19, at night time, the militants with the help of the unmanned aerial vehicles dropped mines in the residential sector, being aware that there are no soldiers. Fortunately, no victims reported,” the HQ stated.
Besides, it was reported that the military of mountain assault brigade Edelweiss succeeded in time to spot and defuse dangerous POM-2 mines as they cannot be defused without explosion. The mines are installed through distant mining and the explosion occurs at the moment of operation of sensitive target detectors and poses a threat for locals.
The mercenaries wipe out marking of mines to conceal that the deadly ammunition supplied from Russia
As we reported, since the beginning of the day, April 19, Russian mercenaries opened fire in Donbas three times. 120 mm mines and anti-tank missiles hit the emplacements of the Ukrainian military near Pivdenne, Luhansk region.
