Donbas: Man detained for trying to join Russian army

The arrested man is transferred to the law enforcement bodies to investigate the case

Ukrainian militants arrested a resident of Donetsk region, who tried to join the armed forces of the temporarily occupied territories in Donbas conflict zone. Press center of Joint Forces operation (JFO) reports this on Facebook.

“The arrested man is a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1977, with two convictions in his criminal record for more than 15 years in total. He says that in December 2018 his classmate, the citizen Sh., contacted him in Odnoklassniki social media and persuaded him to serve in one of the units of Russian militants. She promised the remuneration in the amount of  $300. When the arrested man gave his consent, the citizen Sh. suggested him to cross the fighting line and indicated the place, where the militants would wait for him,” the report said.

The arrested man is transferred to the law enforcement bodies to investigate the case and define the type of punishment for him.
