Since Tuesday morning, illegal armed units of Russian mercenaries mostly used small arms, heavy machineguns, RPGs and infantry combat vehicles to attack positions of Ukrainian troops. Most of the skirmishes took place in the vicinities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In Donetsk region, enemy opened fire in Avdiivka’s industrial area, Novotroitske and Pisky. In Luhansk region, militants attacked Krymske.
According to the joint staff of anti-terrorism operation, the command of Russian militants orders fighters to provoke Ukrainian troops for retaliatory action in specific sections of the combat area. ‘Often, these provocations are synchronized with routes and time of movement of OSCE observers across the combat area. Whenever such fight takes place, the high-ranked officers of Russia’s 2nd Army Corps bring the state-run media to shoot news pieces to be shown later on Russian TV. Then, counter-intelligence of the Russian FSB checks all TV pieces to make sure there are no regular Russian servicemen filmed on video,’ the joint staff said.
