Russian troops leaving the occupied Donbas is the only reliable index of the conflict's ending. Michelle Siders, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Director of the Office of Resource Management at the U.S. Mission in the OSCE said this at the Thursday session of OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.

'The conflict will be solved only when Russia decides to withdraw its troops from Ukraine and allows to deploy the true forces of international security', the American diplomat said.

She added that UN peacekeepers are also capable of creating conditions for peaceful regulation of the ongoing hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

"This will ease the pain of those suffering from the conflict', Siders concluded.
