Militants in Donbas conflict area shelled Ukrainian positions twice from the beginning of the day and until 18:00 on January 5. This was reported on Facebook page of Ukraine’s Army HQ press center.
"There is no definite ceasefire at the contact line. Russian occupation groups could not fully ensure the regime of silence. Today, two attacks on Ukraine’s Armed Forces positions were recorded," the report said.
In particular, in Donetsk sector at dawn, militants from large-caliber machine guns and small arms fired at Ukrainian defenders near the Butivka mine, and at noon they fired 6 mines of 82-mm caliber in the same area.
"Ukrainian servicemen did not yield to the provocation of the enemy and did not open fire in response," the headquarters said.
In other areas no ceasefire violations were recorded.
As it was reported earlier since early Thursday, January 4th, Russian militants launched one attack on positions of Ukrainian forces in Donbas. They used 120 mm mortars to shell Verkhnyotoretske.
RPG and small arms fire was observed in this area, too.
