"On the morning of July 16, Russian-terrorist forces fired at the positions of our defenders who are carrying out combat missions in the Mariupol direction near Shyrokine and Lebedynske from a prohibited weapon of a 122-mm caliber," the headquarters said.
As the commander of the battalion of a separate motorized infantry brigade reported, in the morning shelling was conducted from self-propelled artillery unit 2S1 "Gvozdika" from the occupied Sakhanka area.
In the Luhansk direction enemy fired from grenade launchers at Ukrainian strongpoints in Krymske, Novozvanivka, Malynovr. In addition, at night, militants fired from mortar shells of 82-mm caliber at residential sector of the village of Zolote. As a result of the bombardment, some residential buildings were damaged.
At the Donetsk direction around midnight, the militants fired from small arms and large-caliber machine guns at Butivka mine. In Mariupol direction around 6 a.m. the armed gangs were fired from the 122-mm artillery at Shyrokine.
