After yesterday’s relative quiet in the Donbas combat zone, pro-Kremlin military forces once again used heavy artillery to attack Ukrainian positions, wounding one serviceman in the process.
The Mariupol sector, on Ukraine's southeastern Black Sea coast, took fire from 122 mm mortars to bombard the town of Talakivka, 19 km north of Mariupol. The pro-Russian troops reportedly augmented the latest attack with rocket-propelled grenades and sniper attacks.
The Ukrainian armed forces also reported an 82 mm mortar attack east of Talakivka near the small village Hnutove.
In the Donetsk sector, the Russian-backed separatist forces continue their daily mortar and RPG barrages on Avdiivka.
