Russian citizen and militant of the illegal armed unit of the so-called 'Donetsk People's Republic' (DNR). The press service of Donetsk regional branch of the National Police reported that on Thursday afternoon.

A 24-year-old man turned to the police station in Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region; he appeared to be the native of Yakutia, Russia's Far East. He came to Ukraine in 2006 and joined the Russian mercenaries of 'DNR' in June 2014. He guarded the outpost near Grygorivka village and patrolled Chasiv Yar town. When the Ukrainian forces released Chasiv Yar, he escaped to the occupied Crimea, then to Russia; the man was hiding for four years - until now.

The ex-militant learned that there is a program 'Go Home', which sets people free from the criminal responsibility, so he voluntarily turned to the police precinct. He carried the faked Ukrainian passport. Besides, the Ukrainian law enforcers found out he was an illegal migrant.

The criminal case was initiated under the Criminal Code's Article 260 (creation of illegal armed formations).
