DNR militant arrested for 60 days

The Court granted Donetsk Prosecutor’s Office request and arrested a 35-years-old resident of Donetsk region to 60-days custody as he is suspected of the commission of a crime provided in the article of Ukraine’s Criminal Code on participation in a terrorist organization. The suspect has been convicted for intentional homicide and robbery before. This was reported on the Facebook page of the press office of the Prosecutor’s office.

It was noted that the man out of “ideological” beliefs joined the ranks of the DNR (Donetsk People’s Republic) in 2016, where he was enlisted in the “3rd motor rifle battalion of the 7th separate motor rifle brigade of the DNR Defence Ministry” as anti-tank missile operator.

The suspect took part in an armed resistance, occupation of villages, buildings and other objects on the territory of Donetsk region; he set checkpoints and settled firing positions for militants.

The pre-trial investigation conducted by the SBU under the Prosecutor’s Office procedural control is underway.

Earlier, the accomplice of the terrorists was detained during the events of a counter-terror nature on the demarcation line in Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. When detained, the man was wearing a military uniform of a Russian sample and a bulletproof vest produced in Russia.
