The Embassy of Ukraine sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus in connection with the arrest of Oleksandr Skyba, head of "Plant weighting" company in Minsk. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Ihor Kyzym, reports TUT.BY.
The Ambassador found out about the arrest of Skyba on Saturday, November 18, according to him.
"I immediately contacted colleagues from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, unfortunately, they did not have any information. KGB also did not provide any information," the diplomat said.
"We sent a note asking to explain why a citizen of Ukraine was detained and what he was charged with. We also demanded to allow consul and relatives to the detained man," the ambassador added.
According to Kyzym, director of the Ukrainian plant is accused of giving a bribe.
As it was reported earlier Ukrainian director went missing in Belarus. Belarusian special services detained the head of the Public Joint Stock Company "Plant weighting" (Donetsk region). This was stated in a letter to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Ihor Kyzym from November 16.
In the address signed by the board chairman of the plant O.Kozmenko, it is alleged that the director of PJSC " Plant weighting" Oleksandr Skyba (born on May 7, 1978) arrived in Minsk on November 15 on a business trip for negotiations with OJSC “Minsk Tractor plant". It has an agreement with the Ukrainian company on deliveries of products, which is used in foundry production of the Belarusian plant.
According to the agency, Skyba flew from Kyiv to Minsk on November 15 at 14:20 and arrived there at 16:15 on the same day according to local time. He later at 19:20 contacted and said that he was about to return home the same day. However, the next time, O. Skyba called in the morning his wife from another Belarusian number and reported that he was detained by Belarusian KGB officers.
