The illegal armed groups opened fire at the Ukrainian positions in Donbas six times over the day, March 17. This is stated on the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Facebook page.

“There are no losses among our defenders. The situation in the Donbas conflict zone remains under control of the Ukrainian military,” the report says.

In their attacks, the militants used weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements three times.

In particular, they used mortars of 120 mm caliber to fire Ukrainian positions in the area of Maryinka, and mortars of 82 mm caliber in the area of Zolote-4 village.

The 82 mm caliber mortar and automatic grenade launchers were used by the enemy near  Novoluhanske; the hostile forces used anti-tank missile systems in the Novotoshkivske area and in the Krymske area.

Earlier, Ukrainian military conducted an exercise in the combat area in Donbas; that included drills for the crews of multiple launch rocket systems.

The fighters worked on the effectiveness of long-range strikes and land navigation. They also designated enemy positions.

The HQ stated that the maneuvers were proved to be successful.

Similar drills for artillery crews took place in eastern Ukraine last month.

The drills took place under the order of Serhiy Nayev, the Commanding Officer of the Joint Forces Operation. The crew members performed adequately.
