On January 19, Russian mecenaries landed one attack on Ukrainian positions in Donbas combat area. Ukrainian government forces took no casualties, Joint Forces Operation HQ reported.
Near Vodyane, Donetsk region, the enemy opened fire from grenade launchers of various systems and a heavy machine gun.
The Ukrainian military returned fire. Then, the OSCE received the report from the Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Centre, which indicated that the ceasefire was breached by the Russian mercenaries.
Earlier, Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova welcomed the decision of militant representatives from the occupied part of Luhansk and Donetsk regions to return some Ukrainian prisoners back home. Denisova wrote about this on her Telegram page.
"Regarding the statement of the so-called representatives of self-styled "DPR" and "LPR" Natalia Nikonorova and Vladyslav Deinogo, I would like to inform you the following: as the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, I welcome the decision to transfer some of our illegally detained fellow citizens to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government," Denisova said.
In addition, she expressed her readiness to facilitate the return of the mentioned Ukrainian prisoners to their homes, as well as to take further steps to continue the process of mutual release of citizens "without any mediation."
