Croatia, which holds the presidency of the EU Council, commented on the agreement on full and comprehensive ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, which entered into force on July 27. This was stated by Croatia’s Foreign Ministry on Twitter.
"Croatia welcomes the complete & comprehensive ceasefire agreement in Eastern Ukraine made 27th July. We fully support diplomatic efforts & agreements whose aim is to facilitate the implementation of Minsk Agreements & ultimately foster mutual trust, cooperation & peace in the region," the statement said.
As we reported earlier, according to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, Russia cannot act as a guarantor of the ceasefire in Donbas.
"This is a very significant and positive step towards strengthening mutual trust and easing tensions on the contact line... It will be important that both sides fully adhere to their obligations and agreements," Peskov said.
It was noted that Russia was not a party to the conflict in the Donbas.
