The ‘Rozdolnensky District Court’ of occupied Crimea on May 16 rejected the motion of Volodymyr Balukh’s defense on the examination of video recordings from the CCTVs of the temporary detention facility. It was reported by Crimea.Realities.
"The judge refused to conduct a technical examination of video recordings from the prison cell surveillance cameras, which recorded the incident between Volodymyr Balukh and the head of the detention center Valeriy Tkachenko.
The lawyers insisted that this would allow determining if detention center head hit Balukh to provoke him, according to the report said.
“I know the truth about what's happening. Tkachenko's subordinates were questioned yesterday. You saw how terrified they were to say something unnecessary about their head? But everything that witnesses said yesterday is a lie. I insist on conducting this examination,“ Balukh said.
In addition, the ‘court’ refused Balukh’s defend in the questioning of prisoners from temporary isolation cell, where the defendant was held.
The lawyers of the Ukrainian activist filed a motion requesting data on prisoners in the Rozdolnensky detention center on August 12, 2017, on the day when a conflict occurred between the head of the detention center Valeriy Tkachenko and Balukh.
