“100 days of ceasefire saved the life of dozens of the Ukrainian military men. It allowed to decrease the combat losses among the Ukrainian fighters in nine times,” the President’s Office reported.
It is noted that three losses were observed during the period of truce; 11 military men sustained injuries. Meanwhile, during the same period of time in 2019, 29 Ukrainian fighters died and 98 were injured in Donbas.
“The average number of attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during 100 days of the ceasefire regime increased in 5.5 times in comparison with the proper period of the last year. Since July 27 until November 3, 2020, the Ukrainian positions were attacked 224 times; during the same period last year – 1,241 times,” the office underlined.
Besides, Zelensky’s office assured that the current agreements on the ceasefire regime allowed to decrease the number of attacks from heavy armament fundamentally.
On October 30, the situation in the Donbas Conflict zone escalated. The illegal armed formation violated the ceasefire twice using grenade launchers and small arms. Particularly, the targeted fire was opened near Vodyane. Two Ukrainian military men died in a result of the attacks.
The Trilateral Contact Group had an urgent meeting due to the escalation in Donbas. The sides agreed to observe the ceasefire regime.
