The majority of the people asked by the pro-Russian militants for the exchange of the prisoners in Donbas do not want to return to the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Leonid Kuchma, the representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas in Minsk claimed this as Radio Liberty reported.

According to Kuchma , the particular difficulties appeared in the negotiation process on the prisoners’ exchange due to this.

‘It begins there that we cannot agree with the other side because these people do not want to return. But I think that the agreements will be achieved’, he claimed.

Kuchma also expressed the confidence that the prisoners’ exchange will take place untiprisonerl the end of the year.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin promised to discuss the issue of exchanging Donbas detainees with the commanders of the Russia-backed militants in Donbas on November 15. It is noted that it was pro-Russian Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk who addressed President Putin on the issue.

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov when they discussed the issue of the prisoner’s exchange. The exact date of the exchange was not agreed.
