The fierce storming of the industrial zone in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, took lives of at least 5 Ukrainian servicemen; four of them served with the Armed Forces’ 72nd Detached Mechanized Brigade.
The army unit reported that via Facebook on Monday morning.
‘The attacks on Avdiivka continued for several consecutive hours over the night. Regrettably, four of our men perished, nine were wounded. In loving memory of Cpt. Andriy Kyzylo, Sgt. Volodymyr Balchenko, Sgt. Volodymyr Kryzhansky, Pvt. Dmytro Overchenko… We will not forget you, dear comrades! Ukraine mourns for you…,’ reads the message.
In the early morning of January 29, Russia-backed militants landed mortar strikes on Avdiivka, the town in the vicinities of Donetsk, controlled by the Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian troops took casualties – five dead and nine wounded; besides, four civilians were injured.
