Around 32,000 people are “making war” in the ranks of the pro-Russian militants, as Serhiy Nayev, the Joint Forces Commander, told Interfax-Ukraine.
“We know about the presence of regular active military of the first and second army corps on the temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions numbering around 32,000 people, 11,000 of whom are Russians. Career officers and Russia’s Armed Forces generals hold leadership positions of these formations,” Nayev noted.
Joint Forces Commander also told about the arming and military equipment, which these illegal armed formations possess.
“Soviet equipment is the basis of their armament. There is also modern Russian weaponry on the occupied territories, including electronic warfare “Repellent”, “Zhytel”, “Shypovnik-Aero”. The Russian occupation troops impede the work of OSCE SMM drones with the help of these systems,” Nayev added.
