Another 20 prisoners return to Ukraine from “DNR”

Twenty prisoners detained on the so-called “DNR,” were transferred to Ukraine on Wednesday, February 7. This was reported by the press service of Ukrainian Ombudsman Valeriya Lutkovska.

“20 prisoners who were serving sentences in the penitentiary facilities in the so-called “DNR” and expressed their wish to continue serving the sentence on Ukraine-controlled territory,” the message says.

It is notedб that in total 186 people were transferred from the “DNR” detention facilities.

As it was reported earlier the representatives of Ukraine and occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions exchanged the lists of the hostages. Also, the Ukrainian side will continue to further the initiative of the International Committee of the Red Cross on the creation of the international mechanism, for the search of the disappeared people.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry sent about 300 notes to Russia with the demand to release the Ukrainians, the press secretary of the ministry Mariana Betsa said during the round table "How to release the captives of the Kremlin" on January 31 in Kyiv. She also stated the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia, since this country does not understand the language of law, but only the language of force and sanctions. The diplomats believe that sanctions are the most effective means.
