The ambulance was called for the former mayor of Toretsk Volodymyr Sleptsov who previously refused to be exchanged for Ukrainian prisoners with the Donbas militants. After that, the judge decided to postpone the hearing of the case, reports Hromadske.
Sleptsov told that he was staying at the hospital for in-patient treatment and was leaving it only for the hearings.
The prosecutor is petitioning for Sleptsov’s arrest. The prosecutor’s side insists that there is a risk that Sleptsov could pressure the witnesses and could run to the territories not under Ukraine’s control.
The hearing itself is taking place in closed regime for about a year already. The hearing became closed after the petition by the defender’s side.
As it was reported earlier the former mayor of Toretsk Volodymyr Sleptsov was released from custody in December, 2017 by a court decision and left the Bakhmutsk detention center where he had previously been.
Volodymyr Sleptsov, former mayor of Toretsk arrested for separatism, was to be handed over to the militants on December 27 as part of the prisoner exchange but he decided not to return to the militants.
Sleptsov is suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) and Part 2 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the investigation conducted by the Security Service investigators in Donetsk region, Sleptsov is associated with the organization and conduct of an illegal referendum on the territory of Toretsk city aiming to declare state independence of “DNR” terrorist organization.
