Dozens of European countries protest against the recent attack on the OSCE SMM drone in the militant-occupied area of Donbas; the incident occurred on October 27. The EEAS, European External Action Service released the respective statement, which may be found on the authority's website.

The list of almost 40 countries includes EU member states, as well as Ukraine and other candidates for EU membership.

The complainants reminded that the UAV was downed in the night of October 27 near Nyzhnokrynske in Donetsk region. 'In its preliminary assessment, the SMM concluded that the most likely cause of the downing was an impact to the UAV and that eight people heard an explosion in the area around the time of the incident. Moreover, the downing followed shortly after the spotting by the UAV of a surface-to-air missile system 9K33 Osa, as well as yet another convoy of seven trucks driving toward Manych on a dirt road near the border with the Russian Federation where there are no border crossing facilities', the report says.

'These facts suggest Russia and the armed formations it backs bear responsibility for the incident and demand an explanation by the Russian Federation. We underline that any interference with SMM technical equipment goes against the letter and spirit of the Minsk agreements. Those responsible for any wilful damage, destruction or loss of SMM UAVs and other assets should be held accountable, both politically and financially', the document carried on.

An OSCE SMM drone disappeared during the flight over the occupied territories of Donetsk region on October 27, according to the report of the mission. The UAV spotted a 9K33 Osa surface-to-air missile system in 72 km from Donetsk at 1:18 a.m. near Kalynove settlement. After, the vehicle was sent towards Saurivka. The monitors stated on noises recorded during the flight over the areas Saurivka and Nyzhnokrynske, according to the assessment they were caused by jamming.
