Almost 300 pro-Russian militants were prosecuted in Donetsk region since the beginning of 2018. Particularly, 254 of them were detained and another 44 put on the wanted list as the local police reported.
According to the message, it is the people who sided with the illegal armed formations and were on duty at the checkpoints.
“Over the past four years, seeing how many of their accomplices were detained by police, the ex-militants began to hide their past more carefully; they destroyed the evidence of their involvement to the illegal armed formations. In order to expose a person who can put the citizens in danger, a careful operative work is needed, and it can take more than a month. The investigators restore the timeline from the fragments and check the testimony of dozens of witnesses,” the message said.
It is also noted that three partakers of the illegal armed formations were identified only during the past 24 hours.
All detainees and those wanted can be imprisoned for eight years, as they created and joined the paramilitary formations, not foreseeen by the Ukrainian law.
Those who surrender to the law enforcers voluntarily will be released from prosecution.
“About 30 militants surrendered from the beginning of 2018,” the message added.
Earlier, the illegal armed formations have passed the Ukrainian side the body of soldier Serhiy Prodanyuk, who deceased in the fight on November 29.
