Activists held a rally at Russian Consulate in New York demanding to release illegally condemned in Russia, Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov. This was reported by the documentary director and producer Andrei Zagdansky on his Facebook page.

"We came and said: “Freedom to Oleg Sentsov.”And we also said that we remembered him, and we would think of him on New Year's Eve. We wish Sentsov freedom in 2018. ... And the uncountable number of other innocently convicted people, whose names we do not know, " Zagdansky said.

As it was reported earlier Oleg Senstov, Ukrainian movie maker faced health issues while in detention in Russia. According to his lawyer Serhiy Dinze, Sentsov suffered from a bad nutrition regime, which resulted in weight loss and heart problems. On Wednesday, he was transferred to the White Bear penal colony; doctors requested his patient chart to assign the diet and treatment schedule.

As it is known, Ukrainian movie director Oleg Sentsov and Crimean activist Oleksandr Kolchenko were detained by the Russian FSB in the annexed Crimea. Both were taken to Russia. Sentsov was charged with preparing a terrorist act in Crimea and sentenced to 20 years in the high-security penal colony. Kolchenko was sentenced to ten-years-long imprisonment.
