Disorders began in the fan zone near the Eiffel tower in Paris even before the kick-off. The police used tear gas and water cannons against the fans who gathered near the fan zone. The access to the fan zone was denied because the place was overcrowded. Several French fans were detained near Stade de France where the game took place.
