“Ten soldiers from the Aidar volunteer Battalion, held captive by militants, are released, and now that may go back to their families,” as posted by President Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page.

As reported yesterday, within the Minsk agreements, the captivate exchange of large number of soldiers is expected to take place in the nearest future.

For last 2 months captured 30 members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were held captive by militants from 6 to 9 months, now are released, as stated the commissioner of peace settlement in the Donbas Iryna Herashchenko.

In total, 2735 Ukrainian soldiers were released from the captivity during the anti-terroristic operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

Lugansk journalist Maria Varfolomeeva was arrested by the militants six months ago for filming the living block and "sentenced" her to 15 years in prison, as DW said.

Human rights activists “Reporters without borders” call the militants to release her immediately. Varfolomeeva worked for different national media, she was accused of collaborating with Ukrainian Armed Forces and espionage for Ukrainian far-right organization “Pravyy Sektor”.

“No one can come to our homeland and tell us how we should live. Especially directing weapons against us,” says Volodymyr Storozhuk, a soldier, who for more than 90 days had been fighting off Pisky, Donetsk region.

Before participating in the anti-terroristic operation Volodymyr Storozhuk worked as a district police officer in his district center in Zhytomyr region, fighting against crime, halting the local lawbreakers. However, the homeland challenged, and he left his home to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the military trainings he easel seized anti-tank grenade launcher  LNG 9, tested his knowledge while fighting in Pisky. Together with other fighters, he participated in the battles, defeating enemys’ firing points.

The snipers shell our positions with heavy machine guns and mortars, hiding behind the fortifications.  Thus, neutralization of these fortifications gave tactical benefits.

One of these fortified areas is located near the Donetsk factory of chemical products, hid the militants, who shelled our soldiers with 12.7-mm machine guns. At that time, Ukraine, following the Minsk agreements, has rolled back all its heavy weapons. The only way to neutralize fortified area was to engage the bomb throwers.

May 25, soldier Storozhuk together with his martial brother Yaroslav went to the firing position. Volodymyr shot the hostile embrasure from 1200m distance from at the first time. The militants’ firing point flew into the air Even several shots was significantly damaged another firing point. Despite the intensive shooting, Volodymyr Storozhuk worked promptly. Later in social networks appeared video where the militants complained for “new concrete mines”, used by Ukrainians.

“Storozhuk is a tough guy, who always has his own opinion on each issue an opinion,” said the commander of the squadron. “He is a very reliable fighter though. I know for sure that he will never fail the combat mission”.
