Neal Walker, Humanitarian Coordinator, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine, during his visit to Donetsk August 14, assured that UN will be handling with the most urgent challenges of eastern Ukraine. According to Donetsk City Council press office, Mr. Walker together with local authorities spoke on the humanitarian situation and the feasibility of holding elections in Donetsk region, as the hostilities stepped up. 

"We have two main objectives. First one is to ensure the humanitarian needs of all the citizens. And the second one is to give people their jobs back. UN Secretary-General asked me to come to Donbas to work in these two areas," said UN Resident Coordinator.

The sides discussed the details of supplying IDPs with houses, and the City Council Chairman Pavlo Zherebivkyi stated that "in this regard we cooperate with the UN mission. We have never such a joined program in the Donetsk region before".
