The head of DPR Olexander Zakharchenko signed a document introducing a special regime at the occupied part of Donbas and announced local elections on October, 18. In a joined statement of self-proclaimed authorities of DPR refers to unreasonable measures, constituted by the law "On special status of Donbas".  

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that attempts to hold elections in the temporarily occupied territories in eastern Ukraine means a violation of Minsk agreements. He does not welcome the idea about elections, accusing Russia of ignoring the Minsk agreement. 

“The attempt to hold the elections on October 18 is not in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation besides it is not in conformity with the criteria of the OSCE. Election means that Russia attacks the Minsk agreements, reached on  February 12, 2015. President concluded by saying that this irresponsible step would have devastating consequences for the process of de-escalation of tension.

Meanwile militants continue attacks Donetsk region. As ATO press center informed, today fighting occurred near Peski, Marinka, Lugansk, Leninsk (Donetsk region). Militants used tanks, mortars, and incendiary mines. Shyrokino was shelled for several times with various kinds of weapon. Around midnight militants struck Berdyanske, they used 122-mm howitzers and portable versions of MLRS "Grad".
