"One of the sides took a tough inappeasable position concerning the demilitarization issue. As a result, the parties could not reach a unified position on this matter," - said the source. Consequently, the parties were unable to reach a final decision on of light weapons, of calibers of less than 100 mm.

“Each side presented its vision towards the present situation, and there were some variances concerning technical issues. In this case, each side has its own vision of the conditions under which the withdrawal is possible. A compromise version of an agreement document could be adopted at the next Minsk meeting, July 21,” according to the source.

The contact group meeting, held in Minsk July 7, was held behind closed doors.
