Since the beginning of the Donbas Conflict, almost 900 soldiers died due to the suicides and intentional homicides. Anatoly Matios, the Military Prosecutor General of Ukraine claimed this as 112 Ukraine reported.
"Having analyzed the state of the non-combat irreversible losses during the whole period of the military actions, from 2014 until 2018, we faced the horrible statistics that forced us to seek for the solution how to prevent them. Almost 900 Ukrainian soldiers died as the result of the suicides and intentional homicides. These terrible losses are almost two full-fledged battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.
Matios emphasized that the main reason for this was post-traumatic stress disorder. According to him, now the Military Prosecutor's Office plans to learn the experience of Israel, the U.S., Canada and the U.K., which faced the necessity to stop the negative consequences of this disorder.
On September 19, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko reported that 2,911 soldiers died in Donbas since the beginning of the conflict.
In early June, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated that since the beginning of combat actions in the east of Ukraine, more than 240 children have died.
