70 border guards died during combat actions in eastern Ukraine. Five went missing, 431 got combat injuries, as Petro Tsyhykal, the Head of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, said visiting Donetsk-Luhansk regional administration today, on October 17, the press office of the body reports.
“Almost 20,000 border guards took part in the activities to ensure national security and defence, counterwork and deterrence of Russia’s armed aggression in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, 431 got combat wounds. Unfortunately, no everyone returned home alive. 70 border guards gave their lives for Ukraine, five soldiers are missing,” he stated.
In addition, Tsyhykal noted that 856 officers of Border Guard Service, who participated in combat actions, were rewarded. In particular, two of them received Hero of Ukraine Order.
