Around 500,000  people were brought to Crimea since the beginning of the occupation of the peninsula. Alim Aliyev, the Program Director of the State Enterprise "Crimean House,” stated this during the session in Kyiv on February, 22, as Ukrinform reports.

“According to the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, around half a million of people came to Crimea from Russia. In fact, they were brought,” Aliyev said.

According to the information of the social organizations, to which Aliyev is refereeing to, 50,000 people left Crimea. He pointed out that according to the official statistic only 35,000 people entered Crimea, as they are internally displaced people.   

As we reported earlier, the Office of International Criminal Court Prosecutor issued a report regarding the previous investigation before 2018, which repeated the assessment of the events in Crimea after the start of the Russian aggression - its annexation is an international armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia on February 20, 2014. International organizations recognized the occupation and annexation of Crimea illegal and condemned the actions of Russia. Western countries have introduced a number of economic sanctions. Russia denies the occupation of the peninsula and calls it "the restoration of historical justice."
