49 civilians have died in Donetsk region during the last two years (2016-2017) of Donbas conflict. This was reported by the head of Donetsk region police Mykola Semenyshyn in the interview for Commentaries.ua.

According to him, 35 civilians have died due to the shelling in 2016, another 14 – in 2017.

"Around 11.4 thousand militants’ attacks have been registered in Donetsk region during 2017. 120 civilians suffered due to these attacks. 14 of them have died (7 women, 6 men, one child). 106 civilians were injured (including 6 children). In 2016, 35 civilians died in the shelling (31 women, 4 men) and 108 got injured," he said.

According to him, Avdiivka took the greatest hits (42 people have died and were injured, 424 infrastructure objects were damaged), as well as Krasnohorivka (9 victims).

In 2016, Avdiivka and Mariinka were damaged by the shelling the most, also Horlivka and Zaitseve.

In 2017, 954 buildings were damaged (in 2016 - 681), the majority of them (707) are private houses. 118 apartments were also under attacks, as well as 8 schools, 4 kindergartens. At the same time, the head of the police noted that 17 law enforcement officers have died at the hands of militants since 2014.

As it was reported earlier Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met in Paris with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian. The main attention during the talks was focused on political settlement of the conflict in Donbas. Le Drian said that France would remain a reliable partner of Ukraine in overcoming current challenges.
