The water supply to four settlements of Donetsk region has stopped on January 12. 42,813 people are left with water as the Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk region reported.
On January 12, the accident occurred at Horlivka-Toretsk water pipeline and resulted in the leak of the great amount of water.
Horlivka Filtration Station stopped the water supply due to the accident on this pipeline.
Four settlements with almost 43,000 citizens were left without running water: Torestsk town (32,873 people), Zalizne town (3, 021 people), Severne village (5,937 people), and Pivdenne village (982 people).
The emergency at the local level was announced in Torestsk. The technical and drinking water was supplied to the citizens on January 13.
The place of the break at the water pipeline was found on the same day. The maintenance crew has started to repair it on January 14. As for today, January 14, technical and drinking water is still supplied to the local citizens.
Earlier the pro-Russian militants have shelled Zolote city in Luhansk region and it resulted in the damage of the main waterpipe (1200 mm diameter), which led to the leakage of water in the volume of more than 2.000 cubic meters per hour.
Besides, more than 230 people poisoned with piped water on the occupied areas of Donetsk region over one week.
