Since April 2014, when hostilities began in eastern Ukraine, 28 children deceased in Ukraine-controlled part of Donbas. Natalya Tymofeeva, Head of the Service for Children Care in Donetsk region, reported that as quoted by the press department of this agency.
"Because of military actions in the region, where the governmental agencies act within the full extent of their power, 28 children deceased, and 85 children sustained injuries of various degrees of severity. All wounded children received the necessary medical services to full extent," she said.
As of June 23, 2020, 47 children remain under medical supervision. 21 kids left the region, and seventeen more turned 18 and were handed over to adult Healthcare Service supervision.
Seven kids who needed prostheses underwent surgeries in other regions. When they need these prostheses removed, it will be done free of charge.
Many children also suffered psychological injuries; according to Tymofeeva, in 2019, 46 children underwent psychological rehabilitation.
