The total number of affected among the civilians in 2019 made 162 people, including 26 killed and 136 wounded, as of November 15 as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing Head of UN Mission in Ukraine Matilda Bogner.
“The conflict continues to influence daily the civilian population of the east of Ukraine. During the report period (from September 16 until November 15, 2019) six civilians were killed, 36 were wounded. The total number of affected among the civilians in 2019 made 162 people, including 26 killed and 136 wounded as of November 15,” she said.
According to her, this number is the lowest in comparison with the same periods of time during the whole conflict but “the total number of the civilians deceased due to the conflict continues to grow”.
“Since the mid of April 2014, when the conflict appeared, the total number of victims among the civilians on either side of the contact line makes 3,344 people and the number of wounded people is 7,000 people from both sides,” Bogner said.
Head of the UN Mission underlined that the sides of the conflicts should “do everything possible to reduce the number of the affected among the civilians to zero”.
In this context, it is highly important to observe the full ceasefire regime until the end of the year and it is enshrined in the communiqué on the results of the Normandy Summit in Paris on December 9.
