Ukraine's Defence Ministry reported four attacks on the government forces' positions in Donbas. Dmytro Hutsulyak, the ministry's spokesman said this at a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Centre in Kyiv on Friday.
According to him, the Russian mercenaries shelled Ukrainian positions in Donetsk region, using mortars of various calibers. The emplacements near Vodyane, Pisky and Shyrokyne took fire.
No attacks occurred in Luhansk region over the last 24 hours.
Hutsulyak also confirmed that Ukraine's border guards sustained a small arms attack from the territory of Russia. According to the press center for counter-terrorism operation HQ, 'at about 12.30 p.m. Wednesday, someone opened fire from Ushakovka in Russia. It was a provocative attack, which involved the small arms fire; the targets were the Ukrainian servicemen who protect the country's state border. No victims reported. The servicemen never returned fire'.
The counter-terrorism operation HQ added this was a rude violation of the state border safety - not to mention the attack on the Ukrainian servicemen.
