On Sunday, July 8, Russian mercenaries opened fire on Ukrainian army emplacements 21 times. The press service of the Joint Forces Operation reported this on Facebook.

It was mostly quiet in Luhansk region, except for an attack near Popasna; in Donetsk region, however, the enemy used RPGs, large-caliber machineguns and small arms to attack Avdiivka, Mariinka, Vodyane, Shyrokyne, Lebedynske, Pavlopol and Talakivka.

A Ukrainian serviceman sustained a combat wound during the fight near Pivdenne, Donetsk region; two militants were wounded as well, the Ukrainian military intelligence says.

Three cases of ceasefire violations occurred near Novozvanivka and Vodyane.

Earlier US Department of State welcomed the law of Ukraine on national securityThis is stated in a message on the official website of the State Department.

"The United States welcomes the new law of Ukraine" On National Security "adopted by the Rada on June 21 and signed by President Poroshenko on July 5. The law corresponds to Western principles and provides the basis for expanding NATO's cooperation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the report said.
