2 thousand civilians were killed in Donbas since the start of the conflict, from 7 to 9 thousand got wounded. This was reported by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the 17th humanitarian bulletin.
According to the information, trend of rising civilian casualties continues.
"UN High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed 178 victims among civilian population (35 killed and 143 wounded) from March till May 14, 2017. According to agency’s estimates, the total amount of deceased among civilian population since the beginning of the conflict (in the period from April 14, 2014, until May 14, 2017) exceeds 2 thousand, while the number of wounded reaches 7-9 thousand people," the message reads.
It is noted that shelling, mine explosion or explosive remnants of war become causes of deaths or injuries in most cases.
Risk of deaths from exploding mines and ordnance remains high, accidents are recorded almost every day.
