14,000 Ukrainians deceased in Donbas since conflict began, - ombudsman

Since the beginning of Donbas conflict in 2014, almost 14,000 Ukrainian citizens deceased in the combat area in eastern Ukraine. Parliamerntary Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova reported that on Facebook.

According to the official, the number includes 4,000 unarmed civilians; 152 of them were children. 34,000 more were injured.

Denisova added that 121 citizens of Ukrainian have been imprisoned under politically and religiously motivated charges in the occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation. 86 Crimean Tatars are among these people. 71 individuals have been sentenced to long prison terms.

"296 Ukrainian citizens are staying in illegal detention on the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. 252 of these are civilians (including four volunteers) and 44 military servicemen", the ombudsman said.
