“First trainings supervised by U.S. Marshals are taking place, as KORD special police force joins the Witness Protection Program”, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov tweeted.
The Marshals Service is the oldest American federal law enforcement agency, created by the Judiciary Act of 1789. The Marshals Service is part of the executive branch of government, and is the enforcement arm of the U.S. federal courts. It is the primary agency for fugitive operations, responsible for prisoner transport, the protection of officers of the court, and for the effective operation of the judiciary. The Marshals Service operates the Witness Protection Program, and serves federal level arrest warrants.
KORD is the special police task force of the National Police of Ukraine; the unit it is currently under formation. It is supposed to substitute similar units of former militsiya, most of which were disbanded after the victory of the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine in early 2014.
