Israeli surgeons offer Ukrainian colleagues their experience of complicated surgeries and to improve their skills under supervision of seasoned doctors. That’s the idea of the Medical Bridge, a joint Ukraine-Israel project that will be soon presented in Kyiv.
A press conference with participants in the project is slated for January 25 in Kyiv.
The Medical Bridge is a joint initiative of Ukrainian and Israeli NGOs aimed at improving skills of Ukraine’s military surgeons in the areas of surgery and traumatology, as well as training civilian doctors of various areas of expertise.
The four-weeks-long training course will be held in Israel. Ukrainian doctors will be able to inspect surgeries, be on the beat, participate in meetings of medical staff et cetera.
Medics at the Barzilai Hospital (Ashkelon, Southern District, Israel) have essential experience of operating on civilians who suffered injuries due to terrorist attacks in the Southern District of the country, as well as military men wounded during counter-terrorism operations in the Gaza Strip.
In previous years, 12 Ukrainian medics successfully completed the program. In 2016, organizers of the program expect 36 doctors of various areas of expertise from Ukraine.
