The UN Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory. It was reported by Reuters.

US abstained from voting. The resolution was adopted with 14 votes in favor.

UN Security Council vote on the draft resolution was originally scheduled for December 22. However, on Thursday morning, the delegation of Egypt, which introduced a document to the Security Council on the eve, postponed the vote.

The draft resolution demands that Israel "immediately and completely ceased all settlement activities on the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem."

It is noteworthy that Israel considers all of Jerusalem its capital. At the same time, the Palestinians regard East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.
