Two years of Yatsenyuk's premiership in his most resonance and hilarious quotes
15:40, 29 March 2016

Everything looks like on this week Arseniy Yatsenyuk will leave the post of the prime minister. What we remember the Yatsenyuk? The first two years of the fall of the national economy and the sharp deterioration of our life. In addition, the resonance, sharp, and sometimes hilarious statements. We have gathered the most striking statements of Yatsenyuk as a Prime Minister.

Yatsenyuk about his mission

1)      “I can tell you in advance about the future of the members of the Cabinet – they are political kamikaze. The treasury is empty, we have 75 billion dollars debt. The total debt of Ukraine is 130 billion dollars. For more than a month we have not paid the pensions in the whole amount. Gold and foreign exchange reserves are stolen. And now we are doing everything to soften the situation, and we will do it. We just have no choice.” (February 26, 2014)

2)      “No state benefits, no privileges. No state expenditures on ministers. Total retrenchment of the budget. We are to face new economic challenges, and to survive we have to make unpopular decisions, which will involve subsidies, tariffs, social benefits, finance system of the country.” (February 27, 2014)

3)      “The prices will grow. The dollar is high, and it means that everything will become more expensive. We expect inflation to reach 14%. The prices will grow… if we want to rise the tariffs to the market minimum, we need to set 120% tariffs. No one will applaud now. But, you know, who will applaud? Our children. Our children and history will judge us. Some 5 years will pass and let us see who is right. If we put the basis now – and will definitely do it – we will demonstrate that this is not just an association with Europe. We have become the European country, which is not just talking, but acting. Which is not just willing, but it really reaches the aim.” (May, 28, 2014)

4)      “People expect that everything will change. And we are ready to the most radical, to the most effective reforms in our country, which are really needed now. The mission will be accomplished.” (December 2, 2014)

5)      “I am not a populist to say that everybody will be rich and happy. We need to survive in 2015, and the pensions and salaries must not decrease, the number of jobless people must not increase.” (December 11, 2014)

Yatsenyuk about Poroshenko

1)      “We know each other for 16 years already. We will talk as one man, share our responsibility, and we would not let someone to repeat the scenario of the 2005 year. I believe that Poroshenko thinks in the same way. This is the last chance for the country.”  (June 2, 2014)

2)      “When our path to the reforms will finish? When the Prime Minister and the President begin to fight against each other for the responsibilities. I can officially state that under no circumstances will the opposition between the president and the prime minister take place,” (July 29, 2014)

3)      "We are united. We are in the same boat, and we are not going to drown.” (March 29, 2015)

4)      “I think that in 10 years Mr. Junker might become the President of Ukraine, and Poroshenko might head the European Commission.” (April 28, 2015)

5)      “If president does not want to work with me, and his fraction is opposing the prime minister and ministers’ work… I will take the responsibility to form the government, present the program of the new government to Ukrainian people, and form the new coalition. Please, support me or fire me.” (March, 10, 2016)

Yatsenyuk about IMF

1)      “This government will fulfill all the conditions of IMF, because we have no other choice.” (March 3, 2014)

2)      “If Ukraine did not get credit from IMF, the exchange rate would be 25, 35… During the last two months, it was difficult to pay the salaries, pensions, and fix the exchange rate. We have to make some complicated but needed decisions in order to save the finance system. These decisions would not make us happy now, in 2016, but since now our economy should develop sustainably.” (May 1, 2014)
